Headstone Ordering Guide

The following information will help you manage the process of ordering and installing your headstone. Please note that if you would like the headstone shipped to your cemetery, you must make arrangements for doing so before placing your order. The list below explains exactly what you need to do.

Please note that we cannot ship your headstone direct to the cemetery until you have confirmed the following details.

1.  Cemetery Headstone Specifications

Every cemetery has different requirements for the cemetery, and even for different sections of the cemetery. These requirements can place limitations on the size, color and material of your headstone. Please refer to your cemetery contract; it should state what type of memorial is required. If it doesn’t, call your cemetery. Headstones and Memorials will not contact your cemetery.

2.  Paying Setting Fees

Setting fees vary, depending on the cemetery. If we are shipping your memorial to the cemetery, all setting fees must be paid to your cemetery in advance before your shipment can go out.

3. Coordinate with Cemetery for Delivery

Cemeteries generally have very specific delivery requirements:

  • Shipment authorization requirements. Are you required to obtain a delivery authorization number from the cemetery?

4.  Obtain the Shipping Address

  • Obtain the exact address. Where the headstone is to be shipped.
  • Shipping. We can ship the headstone to your home or to your cemetery. If we are shipping the headstone direct to the cemetery, these arrangements must be made before we ship your order.

Headstone Design Guide

It’s understandable if you aren’t sure how to begin designing a granite memorial for a loved one. Let us help. We’ve outlined some steps below to guide you through this process.

1. Rekindle your best memories.

A granite headstone is a personalized representation of a life lived well. Take a few moments to remember the achievements, talents and personality traits of your loved one. Jot down some notes to describe the individual’s motivations, passions, hobbies…anything you can think of that represents your loved one’s personality.

2. Customizing your memorial.

We have created a headstone designer that will allow you to customize your memorial and guide you through this process.

  • Select your stone color. We offer granite memorials in the seven most popular color sections, Grey (similar to Sierra White™) Black, Imperial Red, Blue Pearl, Imperial Grey, Mahogany and Himalayan. Using your memories and notes to guide you, select the color that best suits your loved one.
  • Inscription options. The layout options allow you to choose if you would like a graphic on the memorial and, if so, where that graphic will be placed. Select the layout of your preference.
  • Text and font. Here you will add the name, dates and an epitaph that describes the life of your loved one. You will also choose a font.
  • Graphic positions. You are now ready to choose a graphic or border position to further stylize your memorial.
  • Graphics. Here you will select a graphic or border from our artwork collection.
  • Proofread. Proofread your memorial layout carefully. Please check your layout carefully for typos and spelling before submitting your order. We use the exact text you provide us; because names and words vary in spelling, we do not make spelling corrections or changes for you.

Also, the placement of artwork and text on your marker may differ by up to 15 percent in scale from the way it is displayed to you on the website. Any adjustments we make will improve the beauty of your marker. When necessary, we will resize your layout in keeping with industry standards, to enhance the look of your memorial.

As an example, if you select a border on your headstone, the website’s display of your text and graphics may appear cramped. Rest assured, your finished product will not looked cramped at all; we will adjust the balance of the artwork and text appropriately to ensure that you receive a beautiful stone marker.

3.  Finalizing your order.

To finalize your order, you will need to provide the exact shipping address and a credit card for PayPal payment. Note that all sales are final.
